One quiet morning, Kiki woke up feeling extra cozy. She stretched her arms, snuggled deeper into her blanket, and glanced at Whiskers, her werewolf cat, who was curled up at the foot of her bed.
“Whiskers, you’re so lazy,” Kiki teased. “All you ever do is sleep!”
Whiskers twitched an ear but didn’t budge. Kiki laughed and sat up, rubbing her eyes. But when she looked across the room, she froze. Sitting on her desk was something she had never seen before—a sparkling mirror framed in glittering purple and silver vines.
“Where did that come from?” Kiki wondered aloud, climbing out of bed.
The Mirror Speaks
As Kiki walked closer, the mirror shimmered, and a soft voice spoke. “Good morning, Kiki.”
Kiki gasped. “You can talk?!”
“Yes, I’m the Magic Mirror of Reflection,” the voice said warmly. “I can show you how beautiful you truly are.”
Kiki blinked in surprise. “How beautiful I truly am? What does that mean?”
“It means beauty isn’t just about what’s on the outside,” the mirror explained. “It’s about what’s inside too. Would you like to see?”
Kiki hesitated, then nodded. “Okay, show me.”
The Reflection
Kiki looked into the mirror, and at first, she saw her usual reflection—her curly brown hair, her sparkling light brown eyes, and her playful smile. But then, the mirror began to glow, and the reflection changed.
She saw herself helping MJ fix his toy dinosaur, standing up for Avey during a tough moment at school, and sharing her mac & cheese with LaLa when she was hungry.
“Wait a second,” Kiki said, tilting her head. “These are all things I’ve done.”
“That’s right,” the mirror said. “Your kindness, your courage, and your love for your family make you beautiful.”
Kiki smiled, feeling a warm glow in her chest. “I guess I never thought about it like that.”
Whiskers’ Reflection
Just then, Whiskers woke up and padded over to the mirror. The magical surface shimmered again, and the reflection changed to show Whiskers chasing a mouse, purring loudly, and curling up next to Kiki when she was sad.
Kiki burst out laughing. “Whiskers, even you get a magic reflection!”
Whiskers gave a lazy yawn and plopped down in front of the mirror, clearly unimpressed.

The mirror’s voice interrupted their laughter. “Kiki, I have one final question for you.”
Kiki straightened up. “What is it?”
“Do you think you’re beautiful?” the mirror asked gently.
Kiki thought about it. She touched her curly hair and smiled at her reflection. “Yeah, I think I am. But not just because of how I look—because of everything I do for the people I love.”
The mirror sparkled brighter than ever. “That’s the right answer, Kiki. True beauty comes from within, and you’ve had it all along.”
The Lesson
As the mirror’s light faded, it transformed into a tiny crystal heart that fit perfectly in Kiki’s hand. She held it close and turned to Whiskers.
“Well, I guess today I learned something important,” Kiki said. “Beauty isn’t just about how we look—it’s about who we are.”
Whiskers stretched and gave a soft purr, as if to say, “I already knew that.”
