It was a warm afternoon, and MJ was sprawled out on the living room floor surrounded by his favorite dinosaur toys. Dad walked in, holding a soft blanket.
“Alright, MJ, it’s nap time,” Dad said with a gentle smile.
MJ frowned and crossed his arms. “But I don’t want to take a nap! I want to watch TV!”
Dad chuckled. “Everyone needs rest, buddy. Even dinosaurs take naps.”
“No, they don’t!” MJ declared, stomping his foot like a little T. rex. “Dinosaurs watch TV all day!”
Dinosaurs Don’t Nap
Dad sat down on the couch and pretended to think. “Hmm, I’m not so sure. Do you know what happens when dinosaurs don’t nap?”
MJ’s eyes widened. “What?”
“They get so tired, their big T. rex feet trip over their tails, and they can’t even roar properly anymore!” Dad said, letting out a funny, weak roar.
MJ giggled. “That’s silly! Dinosaurs don’t trip over their tails.”
Dad leaned in closer. “And do you know what happens to Velociraptors when they’re too sleepy?”
MJ shook his head. “What?”
“They can’t run fast enough to catch their dinner! Imagine a Velociraptor chasing a snack and saying, ‘Oh no, I’m too tired to run!’” Dad flopped dramatically on the floor.
MJ burst into laughter. “Velociraptors always catch their dinner!”
The TV Trick
“But I’m not a dinosaur,” MJ said, picking up his toy T. rex. “And I’m not tired. Can I watch just one show?”
Dad thought for a moment. “Alright, how about this: we’ll watch one show together, but then it’s nap time. Deal?”
MJ’s face lit up. “Deal!”
They snuggled up on the couch, and Dad turned on MJ’s favorite show about dinosaurs. As the cartoon T. rex roared on the screen, MJ’s eyelids began to droop.
A Sneaky Nap
“Roar!” MJ mumbled, clutching his toy dinosaur as he started to nod off.
Dad smiled, gently covering him with the blanket. “See? Even little T. rexes need rest.”
As MJ drifted off to sleep, he dreamed of a jungle filled with dinosaurs—T. rexes, Velociraptors, and even a sleepy Brachiosaurus snoring under a tree.
A Rested Roar
When MJ woke up, he stretched his arms and let out a big roar. “I feel like a real T. rex now!”
Dad laughed. “That’s because you had your nap. Even dinosaurs need their rest to be strong and fierce.”
MJ nodded. “Next time, I’ll nap before watching TV.”
Dad smiled and ruffled his hair. “Good idea, buddy. Now, who’s ready for a dinosaur snack?”
“Me!” MJ roared, stomping into the kitchen with his toy dinosaur.
And from that day on, MJ knew that naps weren’t so bad—especially if they came with dreams of dinosaurs.
The End.
