One rainy afternoon, Avey was bored.
She had already finished her mac and cheese, flipped through all her favorite books, and even tried to take a nap—but napping was boring too.
“I need something interesting to do,” Avey sighed, flopping onto the couch.
Just then, THUMP.
Something fell from the top shelf of the bookshelf.
Avey sat up. “What was that?”
She walked over and saw a big, dusty book lying on the floor. Its cover shimmered with golden swirls, and the title glowed softly:
The Magical Guide to Spells and Surprises
Avey’s eyes widened. “Magic?”
She blew off the dust and opened the book.
The pages sparkled, and suddenly—
POOF!
A tiny talking owl popped out of the book!
The Spellbook’s Secret
Avey stumbled backward. “Whoa! Did that book just—make an owl?!”
The little owl flapped its wings and landed on her shoulder.
“Hello, Avey!” the owl chirped. “I’m your Magical Spell Guide. This book only appears to the most interesting people… and today, that’s YOU!”
Avey grinned. “Finally! Something NOT boring!”
The owl fluttered to the book’s pages. “Inside, you’ll find spells for every situation. Want to try one?”
Avey nodded quickly. “YES! But… what should I do first?”
The owl tapped its tiny beak. “How about a Mac & Cheese Spell?”
Avey’s jaw dropped. “I CAN MAKE MAGIC MAC & CHEESE?!”
The owl nodded. “With extra cheese!”
Avey clapped her hands. “Let’s do it!”
The Mac & Cheese Spell
Avey flipped to the Perfect Mac & Cheese Every Time spell. The instructions were simple:
1. Stir the magic spoon three times.
2. Say ‘Cheesy Magic, Melty Fun!’
3. Watch the magic happen!
Avey grabbed a spoon, waved it over her bowl, and chanted:
“Cheesy Magic, Melty Fun!”
POOF!
Her mac & cheese grew bigger and cheesier, with golden cheese bubbling over the edges. It smelled amazing.
She took a bite. “THIS. IS. THE. BEST. MAC & CHEESE. EVER.”
The owl chuckled. “Told you! Want to try another spell?”
The Floating Couch Spell
Avey flipped through the book. “Oooooh! A Floating Couch Spell!”
She read the instructions out loud:
“Lift up high, let’s touch the sky!”
Then she pointed at the couch.
WHOOSH!
The couch floated into the air!
Avey laughed as she gently bounced on it like a magic carpet.
The owl nodded. “Now you can watch TV from the ceiling!”
Avey gasped. “BEST. IDEA. EVER.”
The Spell Gone Wrong
But as she flipped to another page, she saw a warning.
BE CAREFUL: If you mix too many spells at once, things might go… a little crazy!
Avey paused. “Hmmm. What if I tried one more?”
The owl tilted its head. “Uhhh… maybe let’s take it slow—”
But Avey had already picked a new spell.
She waved her hands and chanted:
“Surprise me now, let’s have some fun!
A little chaos—BUT NOT TOO MUCH!”
The book rumbled. The pages flipped wildly.
Then—
POOF! POOF! POOF!
Her mac & cheese turned rainbow.
The couch started spinning.
And… a dancing llama appeared in the middle of the room!
Avey stared. “Uhhhh… I don’t remember asking for a llama?”
The llama wiggled its fluffy ears and started dancing in circles.
The owl sighed. “Avey… what did you DO?”
Avey shrugged. “Oops.”
Fixing the Spell
As the llama twirled, the couch floated higher, and the mac & cheese bubbled dangerously, the owl flapped its wings in a panic.
“You need to fix the spell before things get out of control!”
Avey quickly flipped through the book. “Okay, okay! Here’s a spell to reverse the last one!”
She waved her hands and chanted:
“No more chaos, no more tricks,
Make things normal—super quick!”
POOF!
The mac & cheese returned to normal.
The couch gently floated back down.
The llama blinked… then vanished.
Avey wiped her forehead. “PHEW. That was close.”
The owl sighed in relief. “Next time, maybe read the warnings first?”
Avey grinned. “Nah. That was AWESOME.”
The Magic Lives On
The owl hopped back onto the book’s pages. “Well, Avey, the Magical Guide to Spells and Surprises only appears to those who need it. Maybe it’ll find you again one day.”
With a twinkle, the book closed on its own and disappeared in a puff of sparkles.
Avey looked around. The room was quiet. No floating furniture. No rainbow food.
She sighed dramatically. “Welp. Back to being bored.”
Then she spotted something on the floor.
A tiny golden bookmark with a note:
Avey, thanks for the fun. Until next time! – The Magic Book
Avey smiled.
She knew this wouldn’t be the last time she found magic.
And next time? She’d be even more ready.
The End.
