One evening, Kiki was lying on the grass, staring up at the bright, glowing moon. The stars twinkled like tiny diamonds, and she could feel the cool night breeze on her face.
“When I grow up,” Kiki said, stretching her arms toward the sky, “I’m gonna be a real astronaut!”
Avey, sitting next to her, smiled. “That’s a big dream, Kiki.”
“I mean it!” Kiki said, jumping up. “I’ll fly all around the planet! I’ll walk on new planets! And I’ll jump so high I’ll touch the sky!”
Avey giggled. “What about the moon?”
Kiki grinned. “Oh, I’m definitely going to the moon. And when I get there, I’m gonna jump so high I’ll reach the stars!”
Just then, a cool gust of wind swirled around them, and something amazing happened.
A shooting star zipped across the sky, and Kiki’s whole body tingled. Suddenly, a shimmering silver rocket appeared in the yard. The door slid open with a soft whoosh!
“Kiki!” Avey gasped. “I think your dream is coming true!”
Kiki’s eyes went wide with excitement. “Then let’s go!”
Blast Off!
Kiki climbed into the rocket, and as soon as she sat in the pilot’s seat, the control panel lit up with glowing buttons and screens.
“Ready for takeoff,” a robotic voice announced.
Kiki strapped herself in. “3… 2… 1… Blast off!”
With a ROAR, the rocket shot into the sky, zooming past clouds, higher and higher until the whole Earth looked like a tiny blue marble below.
“I’m flying!” Kiki shouted, her heart racing with excitement.
Through the window, she saw the dark, endless space stretching all around her, filled with glowing planets and sparkling stars.
Walking on the Moon
Before long, the rocket gently landed on a dusty, crater-filled surface—the Moon!
Kiki put on her space helmet, opened the hatch, and took her first step outside. The ground felt soft and bouncy beneath her boots.
“I’m walking on the moon!” she cheered.
She took a little jump, and—BOING!—she bounced ten feet into the air.
“Whoa!” Kiki laughed. “I can jump so high!”
She did another jump, even higher. The stars looked closer than ever.
“I bet if I jump just a little higher,” Kiki said, crouching down, “I can touch the sky!”
She bent her knees, took a deep breath, and leaped with all her might.
Higher and higher she soared, past the craters, past the stars, past everything until she reached the very edge of the sky.
With the tip of her fingers, Kiki touched a twinkling star.
“I did it,” she whispered in awe.
Exploring the Galaxy
Kiki floated down gently, landing softly back on the Moon.
But she wasn’t done yet.
With a hop, she bounced over to a nearby planet that was covered in soft, purple grass. Tiny glowing creatures waved at her.
“Hello, Earth girl!” they said. “Welcome to Planet Twinkle!”
Kiki smiled. “This is the coolest place ever!”
She ran, jumped, and twirled through the galaxy, visiting different planets, meeting new friends, and even riding on a comet.
“This is the best adventure ever!” Kiki shouted, zooming through space.
Home Again
After what felt like hours of exploring, Kiki heard a soft beep-beep! in her helmet.
It was the rocket’s computer. “Time to return home, Captain Kiki.”
Kiki sighed happily. “Okay. I’ll come back one day.”
She waved goodbye to her new friends, climbed back into the rocket, and set the course for Earth.
With a flash of light, she sped back through the galaxy, past the Moon, past the stars, and down, down, down…
Until—WHOOSH!—she landed softly back in her yard.
The rocket door opened, and Kiki stepped out. The yard was quiet, the stars still twinkling above.
Avey looked at her, eyes wide. “Did you really go to space?”
Kiki grinned. “Yep. And one day, I’m gonna do it for real.”
Avey smiled. “I believe you.”
As Kiki lay back down on the grass, looking up at the sky, she whispered, “One day, I’ll jump even higher.”
And somewhere far, far away, a tiny twinkling star seemed to wink back at her.
The End
Goodnight, Kiki. May your dreams take you as high as the stars.
