One breezy afternoon, Kiki was helping her dad clean out the attic when she found something very strange: a deflated balloon that shimmered like it was made of clouds.
“Dad, what’s this?” she asked, holding it up.
Her dad chuckled. “That’s no ordinary balloon. That’s a Cloudberry Balloon—at least, that’s what my grandma used to call it. Legend says if you whisper a wish into it, it’ll carry you to where your dream can come true.”
Kiki’s eyes lit up. “I want to fly and touch the sky!”
She whispered her wish into the balloon and gave it a big puff of air. WHOOSH! The balloon began to grow, glowing with soft sparkles. Before she knew it, Kiki was being lifted off the ground, gently carried into the sky like a feather.
Up, up, up she floated—past birds, kites, and even a sleepy-looking cloud with glasses who grumbled, “Keep it down, young floaters!”
The balloon carried Kiki to a floating island made entirely of cotton candy clouds and glowing plants. There, she met the Sky Sprites, tiny glowing creatures who needed her help. Their weather machine had stopped working, and without it, the sky would be all mixed up—snow in summer, rainbows at night, and thunderstorms in your cereal!
Kiki rolled up her sleeves and got to work. She followed tangled rainbow wires, untied knots in the breeze, and even used her barrettes to fix a jammed lightning lever. With one last twist, the machine whirred to life!
The sprites cheered, and the clouds began to drift back into proper weather shapes.
“You’re a hero!” said the Sky Queen. “Now make a wish to go home.”
Kiki smiled, made her wish, and floated gently back down to her backyard. The balloon let out a soft pop and vanished, leaving behind a single glowing cloudberry.
Her dad poked his head out the back door. “Find anything cool?”
Kiki grinned. “Just something… sky-high awesome.”
