Jak was only three years old, but he had the heart of an explorer. One night, as he looked out his window, he noticed the moon seemed brighter than ever. Suddenly, a soft whoosh filled the air, and down from the glowing sky came a shimmering dragon, silver as moonlight, with eyes as warm as a campfire.
“Hello, Jak,” the dragon said gently. “My name is Luma. I protect children’s dreams.”
Jak’s eyes grew wide with wonder. “Can I come with you?”
With a laugh, Luma lowered her back so Jak could climb on. They soared through the stars, racing comets, and bouncing between clouds like trampolines. But soon, dark shadows tried to cover the stars. These were the Night Gloomers, who wanted children to have scary dreams.
Jak sat tall and shouted, “Leave the stars alone!” He remembered something his mom always told him: being brave doesn’t mean you’re not scared—it means you keep going anyway.
With a deep breath, Jak blew out all the air in his cheeks—pfffffff!—and to his surprise, his breath turned into glowing starlight that chased the Night Gloomers away.
The sky sparkled again, brighter than ever. Luma nuzzled him proudly. “You saved the dreams of children everywhere tonight.”
When Jak woke up in the morning, the moon dragon was gone—but a single silver scale lay on his pillow, glowing softly. Jak smiled, knowing the magic was real.
