Avey and the Mascara Makeover Mishap
Avey was beaming with pride as she held her brand-new mascara in her hand. It was the first thing she had ever bought with her own money, and she felt so grown up.
“This mascara is perfect,” she said to herself, carefully brushing it onto her lashes in the bathroom mirror. Her long curly hair framed her face as she admired her reflection. “Totally worth every penny.”
Down the hall, Kiki and MJ were whispering to each other.
“We should borrow Avey’s mascara for a surprise makeover!” Kiki, the 5-year-old mastermind, said with a mischievous grin.
“Yeah!” MJ, the enthusiastic 3-year-old, replied. “But not for her—let’s use it on Max!”
Max, their fluffy golden retriever, was dozing peacefully in the living room, blissfully unaware of the siblings’ plan.
The Mascara Heist
Kiki and MJ peeked into the bathroom, where Avey had left her mascara on the counter.
“You grab it,” Kiki whispered.
MJ tiptoed in, reaching up on his tiptoes. He grabbed the mascara and ran back to Kiki.
“Got it!” MJ whispered loudly.
“Shhh!” Kiki giggled. “Let’s go before she catches us.”
The Makeover Begins
In the living room, Kiki and MJ opened the mascara and looked at Max, who was snoring softly on the rug.
“Okay, let’s make him fancy!” Kiki said, holding the mascara wand.
“I wanna do it!” MJ said, grabbing the wand from her.
“Careful!” Kiki warned.
Max blinked awake, wagging his tail. He sniffed the mascara wand curiously but stayed still as MJ carefully brushed a little mascara onto his fur.
“Look at him!” MJ said, giggling. “He’s so fancy now!”
Kiki laughed. “Max, you’re ready for a fashion show!”
Avey’s Discovery
Just as they were admiring their work, Avey walked into the living room. She froze, her eyes wide as she saw Max sitting proudly with streaks of mascara on his face.
“WHAT are you doing?!” Avey shouted, rushing over.
Kiki and MJ jumped, hiding the mascara behind their backs.
“Um… giving Max a makeover?” Kiki said with an innocent smile.
“With MY mascara?!” Avey exclaimed, looking horrified. “I just bought that!”
MJ held up the wand sheepishly. “We wanted to surprise you!”
“Well, I’m definitely surprised,” Avey said, crossing her arms. “You can’t use mascara on dogs! It’s for people!”
Cleaning Up the Mess
Avey grabbed a damp towel and gently wiped the mascara off Max’s fur. “Poor Max,” she said, shaking her head. “You look better without makeup anyway.”
Max wagged his tail, happy to have all the attention.
Kiki and MJ looked at each other guiltily. “Sorry, Avey,” Kiki said. “We didn’t mean to mess up your mascara.”
“Yeah,” MJ added. “We just thought it’d be fun.”
Avey sighed but smiled. “I get it, but you have to ask before you take something that isn’t yours. Especially something I worked hard to buy.”
A Better Plan
Kiki’s eyes lit up. “What if we help you do your makeup instead?”
Avey thought about it for a moment. “Okay, but only if you promise not to touch Max again!”
“Deal!” Kiki and MJ said in unison.
They spent the rest of the afternoon laughing as Avey showed them how to use makeup properly—on people, not pets.
The Lesson Learned
That evening, Max snuggled next to Avey on the couch, his fur back to its usual fluffiness. Kiki and MJ sat nearby, flipping through a dog magazine.
“I guess Max didn’t really need a makeover after all,” MJ said.
“Nope,” Avey said with a smile. “But maybe next time, we can all do something fun together—without stealing.”
“Deal,” Kiki said with a grin.
And with that, the siblings learned that teamwork (and asking permission) made every plan better.
The End
Goodnight, Avey. May your dreams be as bright as your lashes.
